In my opinion I would keep it as orignal as possible,as for the 12v sys. though if it works why fix it,I just finished restoring a 1949 cub!It has the 6v positive ground system,I had to buy some aftermarket parts such as rear rims and such.I would try to reuse as much as possible due to how fast you can sink $ into it! For example to keep it original I needed (2) glass headlight covers After 3 weeks I finnaly found them in PA at a Inter. dealer=$24.00 a piece. good luck with the project!!!!
