There's more to an oil than just it's "breakdown strength" - I assume you mean film strength. Seriously, most any quality oil of today will far surpass the requirements of your tractor. Do I understand that you are using straight 30 in your truck? I don't know what age/size of truck you are referring to, but bear in mind that most of your engine wear occurs during engine warmup - and not during actual warmed operation. For this reason alone, I'd NOT use a straight 30 oil in a newer motor vehicle. It just don't circulate and lubricate as well when you really need it.
