856 diesel serial number

I have a 856 diesel and was wondering if anyone could tell me what year it is? Serial number is 22538 Is there any way of finding out the history of a tractor by the serial number such as what dealer sold it new? We bought it in 1986 and overhauled it in 87. Still the best tractor on our farm. Not our biggest tractor but can pull like a mule. Thank you for any answers
