400 LP Hi-Clear

A friend of mine recently purchased a Farmall 400 LP, that is very tall and has a single front wheel. Is it correct to refer to this as a high-clearance, or is it actually a cotton picker tractor? I haven't been able to check it out in person yet so I'm not sure if it has 5 reverses and 1 forward, or vice-versa. Would the serial tag give some clue as to what it actually is? All that being said, is there any way to tell how uncommon either a hi-clear or a cotton picker tractor would be? I can certainly say I've seen very few M's and Super M's, and never a 400 like this, much less an LP. I appreciate any information anyone can add.
