adjusting the valve Clearence on a new engine

Just installed the Engine on the farmall H and I want to adjust the vavle clearence. can some one tell me step by step how to adjust it cold? I want to get it close for the first time we try to fire it up. I can not find any good reference to adjusting the valves and tappits. What is the valve cleance cold? please help.
After you get number one up, valves closed and adjusted do you rotate the engine 180 degrees and do #3? then 180 more do #4 then back to top dead center to #2?
