water temp guages on the 06's and 26's

I am just curious as to why IH water temp guages for those tractors do not specify a cold, normal, and hot range on those guages. At what mark would you consider to be normal for the 06 tractors or the 26 tractors? When is it too hot? I certainly know that if you let it get close to the H, it is way too hot. On our 706 and 806 when not using it hard, it will be just under the first mark. About how many degrees is that? Any info would be helpful. Thanks, Curt
