Gordon - Installing a key ignition switch is relatively cheap and straightforward. In addition to the key switch itself, you need a solenoid switch in the starter circuit. Total cost would be less than $25. I don't have a wiring diagram for a key switch and battery ignition - however if you punch below you'll get a diagram that shows the starter portion of a key switch setup applied to a magneto ignition. Only difference is you'd wire the coil feed to the "IGN" terminal of the key switch. As Ludwig suggests removing the ground strap at the battery is also quick and effective alternative. That's what I did when my kids were little - mostly to prevent a dead battery from them fooling with the light switch. ...Bob M(elville)
