Usually if a carb needs choking while running after it is warmed up, it indicates a fuel restriction. This could be sludge in the main jet or possibly a float stuck at a very low level. A carb rebuild should solve this. It is not advisable to run with the choke out too long because you can't regulate the mixture very accurately, and could be blowing excess fuel into the crankcase. Make sure you oil level is not rising. JohnIH
