Marc C, Make sure all your glow plugs work. Check them with a ohm meter. Also be sure to let them warm up properly. 30 seconds or so, longer if it's cold. A 950 CCA battery or bigger will help. Check and clean your oil bath resevior, or air filter if added. I count to 20 before cranking. By then my 560 usually starts up. Continue with the glow plugs untill the start up smoke clears up. If this don't help then you have problems with compression or lack there of. And, or, your injection pump or both. Good luck Matthew in SD It is 106 degrees today, I think I could almost start my 560 without using the glow plugs!
