I ran into problems with my best H the other day, it started making a loud tapping sound. I pulled the valve cover and checked the valve clearances. Everything checked out O.K.. I pulled the oil pan and looked up inside. It looked like one of the sleeves had moved. I pulled the head and cranked the engine over, when #1 came up it brought the sleeve with it. This engine was completely overhauled just a few years ago and doesn't have a lot of hours on it. The local machine shop and my IH dealer said I will have to have the block bored and a repair sleeve installed. I don't want the trouble or expense of tearing it down again since I don't use it that much anymore. Anyone know how good the "green" locktite works? My IH dealer said to try that if I didn't want to tear it down.
