It's not hard to replace. You might want to take apart the iron core that goes thru. Might be all rusty. Cleaning them will help generate electricity for better spark. Good luck! The coils are around 50 bucks, or you can put on a 6v coil. Wire it thru the battery and connect it to the points and go. Lots of them are done this way. Just wire one side to the battery and the other side to the terminal where the kill sw goes. You will need to get another sw. Those coils are around $20. Might be a quick way to trouble shoot the system.
