D16 is a standard plug for average use, D15Y is for higher speed heavy tillage, D21 is for light loads lower rpm, this held true for all IH gas engines except the V8 gas in early 8/915 combine. As far as Champion plugs go they were as good as anybody elses, remember thats all they made, they didnt have a large company behind them such as AC did, in the 50/60/70/80s they were the only ones that made a full line of plugs, particularly racing type such as N57 for Chrysler hemi on nitro.
