The correct procedure is to bore the block for the Super M sleeves. IHC published a procedure for this in the '50's. Aftermarket suppliers also supplied overbore kits for the M which required boring the block to go to 4-1/8 bore. If you run the pistons in the bores without sleeves, make sure that the rings do not protrude above the sleeve counterbore at the top of the cylinder. If you hang the top ring in the counterbore, you will be the proud owner of a boat anchor. Also, make sure the head gasket will seal without the sleeve. BTW, my dad had his M overhauled in about 1960. 4-1/8" high altitude Firecraters. Dealer dyno'd the old girl at 59 PTO hp after the rebuild. She was one pulling machine.
