Scott.....I'm assuming that you have a manual steering box. They're pretty simple but a lousy design. The upper and lower ends of the worm gear on the steering shaft form 1/2 of the bearing races. 5/16" dia balls run on them and are held in place by replaceable cups upper and lower(the other half of the bearing races) Tension is adjusted by shims under the steering shaft housing (4 bolts hold it in place) If you don't have vertical play on your steering shaft, before messing with bearing adjustment, I'd back off the box adjustment screws (one on each side of the box with a lock nut around it) and then tighten each a little and test to see if you get any improvement.
