I would'nt worry about it too much. You'll see many of those C-221, C-263, C-291, C-301, D-236, D-282, and D-301 engines that look real oily. My 706 has been that way for years. One source could be the cartridge-style oil filter (if it hasn't yet been converted to spin-on style), those get hard to seal if you don't change the o-ring each time.
