Craig, unfortunately blue smoke means you are burning oil. IF he did put in new rings, it sounds like he left in the original sleeves. If that is the case, then your only real solution is to install new sleeves. Also if all he did was put in new valves and not replace the valve stem guides, the leaking could be from the stems.

"It's just like a new tractor he said". Don't sound like you got what he claimed I am sorry to say.
