I could not let this one go without a reply! My dad had a WD Allis when I was little.I was in fourth grade and Pa was on vacation from work and I got up to go to school. My nose was a little runny and he smiled and said hey Son,your sick! You can't go to school like that!Next thing I know,I was sitting on the tool box of that WD heading for the woods. He got the 34 Ford 1 1/2 ton stuck. He chained it up and had me steer that truck while he dragged it out .He always laughed when he told my uncles about how I struggled to steer that truck. Both the tractor and Pa are gone now,but this one one of my fondest old tractor stories. My point is if we can create some memories for our children with our old iron, that machinery has served even a greater purpose than farming and a life of hard work.Who would have thought that the builders of these machines would have created such a wonderful way of bonding with our children?
