Help with Super A

Just rebuilt my super A and it will start immediately and has good oil pressure but there is an intermittent popping sound comming from the engine (not backfiring). I have checked and rechecked the valve settings, and the timing - all ok. It has new roater,cap, points and condenser and new plug wires. I have also checked the setting on the govenor.

The engine will also occasionally load up and die.
any help will be appreciated.
