taking the spark plug wires off wouldent change the timeing unless you got them in the wrong order when you put them back on ether they are crossed or they are off one post on the dist. all the way around. and i WOULDENT use eather to start anything i use carb cleaner it works just about as good but a lot safer my 2 cents sHan
