Well I tore off the valve cover and found that the valve wasn't stuck after all. So, out of curiosity to see what was happenning when the tractor ran me and dad started it up. Well, what do I see, the rocker arms are loose. shut the tractor off, tighten up the two nuts, restart and we have a perfect running tractor again. I was quite relieved, but felling a little dumb. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks for all the sugestions!
