yellow head on a red cub...

I was doing some stripping and cleaning this afternoon on my '51 cub in preparation for paintinig and when I got the gunk and dirt off the head it was yellow! Are the heads on the red and yellow cubs the same? Seems I read somewheres that yellow cubs have higher compression ratio and higher hp. Did they accomplish this with reconfigured combustion chamber in the head or some other way? What's your opinion? Thanks.
