Diesel was a cost option extra, would guess in Iowa where a large amount of tractors sold of this size in that era would guess 50/50 split, later ones were mostly diesel after M & W came out with add-on turbo kit. Still a lot of farmers would buy a gas if they had a lot of chores in the winter and this tractor was the main horse, some of them just didnt like the smell or noise of diesel.
