HELP!!!

Just had my carburetor on my '42 "H" rebuilt, Yesterday's Tractors did a fine job rebuilding/refurbishing it. Attached it to the manifold, tightened all the fasteners and fired it up. Wallah, runs like crap! I used the service manual for the set up proceedures, and tried to tune the beast. To make a long story short, it doesn't set up. I'm not a mechanic and can't troubleshoot myself out of a wet paper bag. It will speed up then settle down for a few seconds then resume the Indy 500. I've noticed that when I remove oil bath air cleaner cover and place my hand completely over the inlet, it will not die like an automobile will when you choke it and will smooth out to an "almost idle". I'm at my end, can anyone give me any pointers, all help is greatly appreciated..Regards and sorry for the detail{s}.
