Yes, those tags get painted over all the time. To be more specific, the tag is on the right side when you are looking at the tractor from the front, you know, the generator/carb side of the engine side of the tractor. On my 240, the tag is pretty much right under the voltage regulator. If you don't find the tag, it probably fell off. They have a bad habit of doing that.
