Haas, I had the same experience with our 1.3 MP Sony. I was too cheap to buy Sony's NiMH battery pack and charger, so I went to Wally World and bought a 4-pack of NiMH AA's and a charger for about $30 total. They last about six times as long as alkalines in the Sony, and you can pop in another set in five seconds if they run down. Only down side... they will self-discharge in a month or so, so you need to keep a set freshly charged.
