Dave_id: BLUE smoke is oil. Sleeve had a rough spot where the ring was rusted to it. That spot bounced the rings every time they passed over and finally broke'em. My guesstamation. Quick compression test MAY confirm if you know what it was prior to this. A valve problem shows quicker with a miss or uneven exhaust sound. Broken rings don't always give rough running. Gene
