Take out #1 plug, and stick finger in hole. Have someone crank the engine around slowly until it starts to push finger out of plug hole. This is compression stroke for #1 cyl. Continue cranking until timing mark on flywheel is lined up. Mount mag to engine, making sure rotor is pointed towards #1 wire on cap...push mag and distributer up against engine and crank engine around again like you first did with finger in hole, and line up timing mark.. Now slowly rotated distributer towards you until the impulse coupler on the magnetor pops over. Tighted distributor and mag. Double check timing by redoing timing procedure, and when coupler pops over for #1 cylinder, your timing mark should be lined up
