Thanks for the comments...I forgot to mention that I drained the tank, inserted an in line filter and started off with fresh gas...Red, none of the needle adjustments seems to make any difference...

I'm wondering if the air leak might not be it...I replaced the manifold and gasket and torqued it to specs..I did replace the manifold to carb gasket, but I have had it off and on several times since, so that gasket may no longer be
sealing properly...I'll try replacing it today...
