Thank you for your help. I am going to keep the exhaust lift on my A. Does anyone have knowledge about these? Are parts hard to find? The muffler attaches to a large cast iron part below the hood that acts like a lever. That part is so rusted and pitted I don't know what it is or where to find one. Also, I took the muffler off and it has the same volume whether the mufler is on or offf. Does this lift serve as a muffler too? It is quiet either way. And that cast iron part below the hood prevent the hood from seating, and over the years the heat from that part, has corroded and mashed the hood where it is in contact. What should I do? Can I lower the cast iron part so that to let the hood have a gap of air so it is not in contact? There is a spring for this lift, that is dangling, and it is about 4" long on, what appear to be the main lever. It is on the left side of the tractor, and I don't know what it is supposed to do? and above it, is a shorter (abiout 1.25 inches) but heavier gauge spring too. That is not connected but rattles and doesn't have any tension on it. I think it is broken. Your help is appreciated. I am learning a lot form you guys and I am greatful to learn anyhting I can. The seed bed was soft enough that the rear end would spin and slowly work its way to the downhill side of the gardens slight incline. From this, we learned our lesson sinc
