The drive shaft right above the pump gear will wear bad some times which will cause low oil pressure, don't know if the shaft and gear is available or not today years ago it was as far as the bypass valve just weld the bypass hole in the housing shut and forget the bypass valve, that is all we ever did back in the 50' and 60's never had a problem.
