You might not be able to go by the timing marks on the pulley. Put your #1 cylinder top dead center, make sure that when you do that both valves are closed. If not, then cam is off. If so, then just set your distributor to the #1 plug. After you do this, make sure that you reset your points. You may also have a condenser problem. Also check your points to make sure that they aren't sticking. Hope this helps! let me know.
