H man you do not have to remove the fan blades. Pry the main belt off the crankshaft pulley. Then it can be worked around the blades. If the generator belt is completely shot, simply cut the old one in two.

Now work the new generator belt around the fan blades and mount on the generator. Then route the main belt around the fan blades and re-mount it on the crankshaft pulley.
