Bob, If the factory lockout bolt is present, it shouldn't be able to go into 5th. If the lockout bolt has been changed to a shorter bolt, then it should be able to go into 5th. I guess there's a possibility someone took 5th gear out of your transmission to save weight or some other reason, but it sounds like there isn't even a 5th gear in the tranny. But, with the presence of the long factory lockout bolt, the shifting forks will hit on the bolt keeping it from going into 5th. Good luck finding anything tomorrow. Jared Jeffries
