Swaping heads on Tractors

I'm having a head rebuilt for my super A which should be done shortly. The rest of the tractor will take some time. My "A" is now running but not very well, I'm suspecting that the valves may be the cause. So I was thinking about pulling the head off and putting the rebuilt one on. Good idea ? bad idea ?
