The J hooks fasten onto a sort of "ramp" on the rest of the tractor. Sometimes they break off. I had to reattach one on my SMTA. Then if they are bent they won't attach tightly. Purpose of the ramps is that when the J hooks hook on them the hood is pulled in tight. Not a good explanation guess you'd have to look at it and would understand.
