I had another go at it with my homemade tool and was able to get it out. The big reason I wanted it out is the o-ring on it was not in right and was actually pinched into the threads and sticking out the top. Also, the entire unit looks very good inside but has a lot of sludge so now I can give it a good cleaning. Thanks again, Mark
