Split my SMTA and took out TA unit, repaired TA and replaced main clutch disc. When I put it back together I did as the book suggested, Put pressure plate assembly and clutch disc on the shaft on the end of the TA unit. Put the TA unit on engine then coupled up the rear part. I then fastened the pressure plate to flywheel, was suspicious as it seemed the clutch actuating rod was out a long ways. Seems like the pressure plate is already compressed. When I took it off the flywheel I used the 3 5/16 bolts to maintain compression on it but they have been removed. Have spent several hours bolting and unbolting pressure plate unit to see if ti is hung up somewhere. Also partially split it and checked clutch plate to see if it was in righ, it was and seemed to move ok in flywheel. Suggestions??? Was working when I took it apart and this clutch disc is the same size as the old one.
