Depends on how serious you are about mowing.....I pull a 7 footer with a "H" and pull a 9 footer with a "M"...both are finish mowers... the 7 footer is an IH stalk chopper(pull type) I rebuilt with front dolly wheels and took the big blades off and made new style drums with 4 blades on each of 2 drums....the 9 footer is made by Woods ...pull type ...by as far as making marks...I put 20.8 x 38's on "M" and has very little tread...and the "H" has 18.4 x 38's with very little tread so if I make marks they are minimal...but you must know the lawns I mow are at a church and a community center and rifle range and two shopping centers which add up to about 40 acres a week and trees are not a problem....if trim is needed it's done with a 20 hp garden tractor with a 5 foot deck........good luck...
