I have to agree with most of the posts that the diesel option is not worth the money. I have a 1984 GMC flat bed 4X4, 4.10 gears, four speed with a Ranger spliter and a 454 engine. I've had this truck since new and it primary use is towing a 24' goose neck trailer hauling two tractors most of the time. Total gross combined weight is usually 26 to 27,000. I change the oil every 2000 miles and never tach it over 3500 rpm. This truck is 18 years old, dosen't use any oil and has never had the heads off. I have no problem cruising along at freeway speed.
