'50 H Front End Fix-URGENT QUESTION

I'm in the midst of rebuilding the front bolster on my H. Got the bolster out, all the bushings replaced, new bearings, etc...reassembling the bolster now.

When reinstalling the front bolster shaft, which direction should the groove on the shaft point to? The groove is near the bottom of the shaft, just above the felt washer and retainer, about 1/4" deep and 2" long. Does it matter which direction this points?

Any quick responses would be greatly appreciated.
