And if it turns out to need bearings, you can get them from several mail-order sources if your Case/IH dealer tells you he can't get them. I think they are about 35 bucks a side, which would get you two bearings (inner and outer) with races, a grease seal and a felt dust seal. It's a pretty straightforward do-it-yourself, no idea what a shop would charge, but I wouldn't think more than an hour of labor.
