Hi Don, Yes you can take the caps off and reinstall them without renewing the bearings, I don't recomend it though. They don't cost that much. Besides they are expendable parts. Made to be replaced. As for the rod bolts, they can be reused with one exception. On the 400 series engines, that call for rod bolt torque of 130 ft-bls. These bolts have been known to break, not right away mind you. On those series and any other of that family: 360,414,436,and 466 I buy new bolts. Good luck, Matthew in SD
