About the only way to tell the correct level of fluid in the lift all is to drain it and then add 6 qts of either HY-Tran or 30w non detergent oil. (Be careful about cross contaminating hyd. systems). Take a straight piece of #9 wire and stick it down into the fill pipe of the lift all marking the wire at the top of the fill pipe. Then pull it out and mark the spot where the fluid comes to on the wire. I made a file mark on mine at these points. You can then fashion your own dipstick if you want by cutting the bottom end off about an inch below the oil mark and soldering a flat washer to the upper end of the wire at the fill pipe level so the washer will just fit over the end of the pipe but not interfere with the cap screwing back onto the pipe. The original dip sticks were jointed to be able to pull them out at an angle so you could even do that if you wanted.//FB
