Marvin, There are two (at least) possibilities. The float could now be too low for high speed operation or the high speed jet may need some adjustment. I had a similar problem on my M and fixed it with the high speed adjustment. Get a manual, an I&T form the local farm store should do, and try the adjustment first. Then if that doesen't work, adjust the float a little at a time until the problem goes away. Running for a long time with a lean condition will burn the valves, so don't wait very long to fix this.
