Walt,It sort of does look like a can w/the drive lugs on it either side of retaining nut.The housing is light sheet steel that is held on by a flat plate w/ 4 screws into main body of mag.Does'nt appear to have any provision for locking out impulse while timing.[maybe I missed something] The mag that fits has an alum. or pot metal housing,drive is recessed somewhat.You have to look in end of housing to see drive lugs.Maybe there is a shorter coupler that was used with this style of mag?Looks like if I had a donor,the correct pieces could be put on.
