Farmall A ;Sidedresser mounting question

Finally purchased all the parts but ran into something today.The fertilizer attachment holes(mounting on the engine)are the exact opposite pattern ! Checked a friend`s 140,no mismatch there.Has anybody run into this ? Can i(carefully!) drill and tap into the plate on the engine without grave consequenses thus having four holes in a square pattern? It`s a `44 A .Thanks for your input. Dave c.
