The calcium is used with the water to keep it from freezing (anti freeze). The water/calcium adds weight which increases traction, just as wheel weights do, just another option for weight. If it gets loose from the inside of the tube, flats, bad valve stem, etc, then you get RUST AND MORE RUST. My advice is if you don't need the weight DON'T USE IT!!!!!!!!
