The starter, generator and lights were all on the tractor when they were painted at the factory so they should be red. The mag was masked off. The
cast iron base part should be red, the aluminum part should be left unpainted as well as the plastic
coil cover and distributor cap. Strangley the rubber shift knob should even be painted red, although I would not paint it myself. Check out Guy Fay's book "Farmall letter series originality
guide" It will answer all you questions about paint as well as decal placement.
