I have a Super A which I haven't totally broke down yet. When tearing down, I noticed I was able to move the crank up and down (front and rear bearings still unlosened, middle bearing off). The pistons, rings, bearing on the wrist pins are terribly worn out ( I mean terrible !!!). Anyway, I haven't been able to get a mic on the crank yet to see how much they've been ground ( I assume it has at least 1 time ), but I'm worried that it may be way under since I was able to move it ( again with the bearings still on ! ) about .010" to .020" up and down (very lose). I have a opportunity to get a cheap crank .003" under/over whatever really cheap (100.00). I'm not sure if I should buy it or not. If I don't, and my crank is way undersized what can I do ? One friend of mine suggested I could get it plated. Does this make sense ? has anyone done this ? Any Help much appreciated.
