Safety Alert: Farmall H and M

On our narrow front Farmall M, the steering pedestal housing has a cap (and snap ring) which holds the steering worm gear, bearings and shaft in place. From years of use and loader work, the housing weakened and the cap broke free taking a piece of the housing with it. When this happens, the steering shaft goes forward and you lose all steering control. Luckily, we found this problem while the tractor was in our driveway, but minutes before we had driven the tractor at road speed for 1 mile. If you haven't checked your steering in awhile, pull the hood and at least inspect the bearings for wear. It could save your life.
